The advantages of the PJ Monitoring solution

The advantages of digital rail freight transport are manifold. Each individual digital train function from PJM generates concrete improvements and positive effects. In a nutshell, digital rail transport is faster, more efficient, more economical, more reliable and safer.

Faster

Automatic brake testing and load weight monitoring significantly shorten train preparation times. With the automated brake check alone, this amounts to 2x40 minutes for a 500 m long freight train (1 person in less than 5 minutes instead of 2 people with 45 minutes each for a manual check).

More economical

The permanent and comprehensive determination of specific data on relevant components leads to predictive maintenance and repair planning. Short-term, costly repairs and rolling stock breakdowns are reduced. The loading capacities of freight wagons are optimally utilized (load weight monitoring) and thus increase the economic efficiency of rail transport.

More efficient

Just to name some among many examples: Freight train downtimes are minimised, wagons are loaded to optimum capacity (thanks to load weight monitoring) and automation compensates for a lack of skilled personnel (e.g. implementation of 1-person operation using automated brake testing).

More reliable

Functions such as load weight monitoring increase the availability of the goods train because loading is carried out more quickly and overloading - and therefore withdrawing a wagon at check points - is avoided. The support frame monitoring recognises the correct setting of the device.

Safer

Our functionalities increase safety. The derailment diagnosis IDDS is equipped with a real-time warning to the train driver, the dynamic running status monitoring identifies critical driving situations and possible malfunctions, the real-time brake analysis and brake system monitoring detects defective and overloaded brake systems at an early stage and the automatic brake test is a safety-relevant process that determines and checks numerous data. Real-time brake monitoring monitors the correct use of the brake system and prevents applied handbrakes.

Future-proof technology

The PJM system is freely scalable and supports a future digital automatic coupling solution and other customised applications. The system is fully compatible with future DAK solutions and with screw couplings.
